Mersim’s, named after head chef Mersim Osmicevic, started as a food truck serving the Cedar Valley and Iowa. In 2021 they opened a beautiful new restaurant in Waterloo, Iowa. Offering a wide variety of Bosnian + American food, Mersim’s needed help with branding, signage, menu design, interior graphic design, and food photography, topped off with a custom WordPress website.
When Mersim’s approached us about creating their website, we had a discussion about branding as well. They had a logo lined up, but had not done a deep dive into their branding. We discussed the importance of recognizable branding that reflected the spirit of a business. That actually led to a slight name change, and a full branding effort. The results is a bold-yet-approchable brand that reflects the energy and stature of this innovative restaurant, which we translated into the website design, interior and exterior signage, menu design, and more.
Website
Mersim’s was looking for a website that was clean, simple, and easy to navigate, so that’s what we delivered. Letting the photography do the talking, the homepage is a collage of photos that show the spirit and authority of the restaurant, and then a simple menu allows potential customers to easily find menus, hours, directions, and employment opportunities.
Have you ever gone to a restaurant website, taken one look at the food photos, and either thought about, or decided to look at other options? Food photography is about developing trust with your customers, so it was important for Mersim’s to have photographs that looked as good as the food tasted. In addition to interior and exterior photography, we took a day to do a special photo shoot just with the food and the chef. The result brings the website to life and makes our mouths water every time we look at them.
