PicklePlay is a one-stop-shop pickleball app for players and clubs at all levels. They originally reached out to us before they launched in 2021 to create a landing page and some promotional videos, but our relationship with them continues to evolve and expand. We have now produced everything from commercials to landing pages, websites, instructional videos, social media templates, blog posts, and more.
PicklePlay has a strong mission–to be a one-stop-shop for pickleballers of all abilities all over the world. This made it easy to help them write punchy, engaging scripts for their introductory videos. Once they started expanding their offerings to meet that mission, however, the story got diluted. In 2022 they hired us to hone the messaging for their club management software and to rethink the app’s homepage to appeal to all new visitors–no matter why they are coming to the page. Starting in 2023 we also took on some blog writing for them to assist with organic SEO efforts.
A consistent look is so important for brand recognition, so in 2023 PicklePlay hired us to create some social media graphic templates for them. These templates allow them to change up information and stay current, while maintaining a consistent, professional look and feel.
Something that we love about PicklePlay is that they aren’t afraid of evolution. Our original project with them was a simple launch landing page for their app–which wasn’t even on Android at the time. Little by little the landing page expanded into a website, adding merchandise, ambassadors, sponsors, blog posts, and more along the way. In 2023 we added an Adwords campaign to further their reach into key pickleball regions.
PicklePlay’s initial media need was a set of introductory hype videos about the app and pickleball in general. We worked with Blake to craft scripts and storyboards for short, engaging, graphic animation spots that showed off the company’s high-energy branding, and comprehensive offerings. Once the app launched, it was time to jump into “how to” videos. At first these revolved exclusively around how to use the app, but in 2022 we produced a video for PicklePlay that is available via QR code on all Franklin Sports pickleball equipment. Also in 2022, because of our long media relationship with the app, we were asked to produce a commercial that appeared on CBS Sports during a pickleball tournament.
