Elevator company known for amazing customer service and innovative custom solutions.
Schumacher Elevator Company was having a problem. The level of customer service and care that their phone-in clients were getting was not matched by their website. The website was outdated and had been expanded by too many people over too many years. We worked together to create a central message around which the entire website was built–and paid special attention to navigation, design, and user experience both on desktop and mobile for their state-of-the-art site.
Schumacher was an interesting client in that they had a clear idea of who they were, but their website wasn’t doing a good job of expressing it. We worked together to distill the main ideas an ideal customer would need to know into bite-sized pieces that could be pulled together into consistent copy. Their homepage went through several transitions–but it ultimately does a fantastic job of providing a scannable content that reveals more and more information as a person scrolls down the page (an indicator that they are becoming more invested in what they are reading).
Website
The bulk of the project with Schumacher was the design and development of their website. Just this stage took several months. We built them an entirely new, custom WordPress website on Oxygen with all the bells and whistles. All of their (pretty complex) externally-hosted forms were rebuilt to be hosted directly on their website. We created a custom product template framework for their products and elevators that allows Schumacher admins to manage and update products with ease. Their site also got a custom portfolio framework for simple management of portfolio projects and advanced navigation. It was a huge undertaking that required weekly meetings with the marketing team to review deliverables and ensure a timeline website launch. But the end result speaks for itself, and they get great feedback on the site.
Originally, this project only called for custom website photography. We decided to divide that into three categories to really capture the essence of everything Schumacher does. They are well known for their safety, service, and custom solutions, so we designed photoshoots to illustrate those points. One shoot would be a staged service tech appointment. Another would involve taking interior and exterior shots of their office. And then we would do a few portfolio shoots with some of their favorite custom projects in the area. As website development began, however, they decided to add a website background video to the homepage. This was a great way to add motion and interest to their website without having to worry about scripts and sound–and it worked out really well.
