“Why do you go away? So that you can come back. So that you can see the place you came from with new eyes and extra colors. And the people there see you differently, too. Coming back to where you started is not the same as never leaving.” Terry Pratchett, A Hat Full of Sky

Have you ever just felt stuck with a project, or another aspect of your business? The harder you work on it, the more you think about it--the less certain you become on how to proceed.

Instead of devoting all of your brain power to this problem--the answer might be to stop thinking about it altogether.

According to psychologist Scott Bea, PsyD in an article for the Cleveland Clinic last year, “When you take breaks, you can solve problems in fresher ways than you could if you just kept your nose to the grindstone. Our brains are like any machine: They need a rest.”

So if you’re troubled by indecision or if every move you make seems to be the wrong one--consider taking a step back for a time. Your brain will thank you.
